I’ve just finished the combined Westfall and Duskwood quest achievement for Loremaster! I really enjoyed going through the story of Westfall. It was fascinating learning about Vanessa VanCleaf – I felt horrible for her!
Going through Duskwood was a less enjoyable experience for me. The zone is obviously made for land mounts, not flying ones. Getting stuck in trees got to me a little bit! My screen is also very old and very dark – so I had difficulty going through tunnels and crypts. I managed to get through it, though, and got some cool stories out of it!
Next up will be Stranglethorn!

I had no idea they combined they combined the two regions into one achievement. I really enjoy Westfall because it sets the underlying tones for the Deadmines instance so brilliantly. You get a real sense of the disenfranchisement that the homeless people are feeling, and the reasons why they flock to Vanessa Van Cleef so passionately. It makes the region feel like one of the most cohesive storylines in the whole game, really.
Yes! The bit where Vanessa burns Sentinel Hill was done perfectly. The entire zone just worked together so well.
Your first picture of Sentinel Hill sums up new Westfall perfectly. I remember going through and completing it on one of my Alliance toons and really feeling for what the people were going through. If it wasn’t for that annoying Horatio quest chain, it would probably be one of my favourite zones of the revamped old world that I’ve completed so far. Good luck with the rest of your Loremaster journey!
Thankyou! I’m surprised at how much I am enjoying Loremaster so far!
And yes, they’ve made it so you have to empathise with the people of Westfall. It’s a great way to do the questlines!
My sympathy for Vanessa was greatly mitigated by the fact that she had the Furlbrows (and their damn horse!) killed, since they would have been able to recognize her.
TRUE! But I understood that she wasn’t doing it randomly. She had been deeply hurt – not that that justifies what she’s done, but it explains it.
RIP HORSIE
